The Atlanta Hawks teamed up with whisky brand Crown Royal for their sixth annual Crowning Courage event celebrating military personnel.

Hawks season pass holders donated their courtside tickets to approximately 200 veterans, the Hawks reported in a release. The veterans were able to watch the Hawks play against the Indiana Pacers.

"The Atlanta Hawks and Crown Royal are forever grateful for the service and sacrifice of these heroes," Jami Gertz, the Hawks' principal owner, said in the release. "Hosting this annual 'Crowning Courage' event is just one way to show our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these courageous men and women."

Before tipoff, Staff Sgt. Michael Scarlett sang the National Anthem, the Hawks reported. During the event, visitors had the opportunity to participate in Crown Royal's Purple Bag Project to assemble care packages that are sent overseas to active-duty service members.

"We are proud and honored to be entering into the sixth year of 'Crowning Courage' in partnership with the Atlanta Hawks and happy to see so many local organizations getting the recognition and support they deserve," Crown Royal Vice President Nicola Heckles said in the release.

During the game, video tributes played honoring 100-year-old World War II veteran Herschel Scheidt and Alwyn Cashe, the first Black military officer to receive a Medal of Honor, the Hawks reported. The Hawks and Crown Royal have recognized over 600 military personnel since 2016.

The Hawks defeated the Pacers 133-112, the team said in a tweet.
