ATLANTA—Mayor Andre Dickens expressed deep concern over the recent murder of Leonard Fortner at the Fulton County Jail. In a statement, Mayor Dickens highlighted the critical issues surrounding the incident and the broader challenges faced by the county.

"I am extremely concerned about the crisis at the Fulton County Jail. All human life must become a priority to Fulton County," Mayor Dickens emphasized. He pointed out the historical underfunding of quality of life services for inmates and the lack of adequate physical and mental health services for county residents, emphasizing that people are paying the price, sometimes with their lives.

Mayor Dickens underlined the responsibilities of Fulton County in ensuring the safety and sanitation of their corrections facilities, providing services to the homeless, and ensuring fair and efficient trials in the court system, among other essential services.

In light of the upcoming election, Mayor Dickens urged voters to reflect on the situation and question the level of support and services they receive from Fulton County and its leadership.

"This is an election year and voters should take note and ask themselves: why am I not getting what I deserve from Fulton County and its leadership?" Mayor Andre Dickens concluded.
